Features & Benefits

Permanently Flexible
Manufactured from a pure acrylic resin to provide permanent flexibility over a wide temperature range and diverse weather conditions.

Smooth to Trowel
The formulation is designed to optimize trowel slip, improve application and finishing properties.

Fade Resistant
The pure grade acrylic and high-quality pigments in Starpoint are resistant to UV damage and moisture which would otherwise cause fading and loss of durability.

Paintable
Starpoint can be easily painted with any water based acrylic coating.

Guaranteed
When applied correctly, Starpoint is guaranteed to resist normally occurring roof movements for 10 years.

Meets Australian Standards
Starpoint complies with the provisions of the Australian Standard AS 2050-2002 Installation of Roof Tiles. Starpoint has been tested in accordance with AS4046.8-2006 and has achieved the maximum C3 wind rating to qualify as a mechanical fixing system.

Product Information

  • Starpoint is formulated ready to use directly from the pail.
  • Starpoint should be stirred with the trowel prior to use to attain the desired troweling consistency.
  • Stirring will ‘wet up’ the material. DO NOT use a mechanical mixing tool.
  • On warm days Starpoint will be water resistant after 2 hours. Allow longer curing time in low temperature and/or high humidity conditions. DO NOT apply if rain is likely within 2 hours.

Application Guidelines

Surface Preparation

  • Dirt, moss and lichen must be removed.
  • Surface must be clean and dry.
  • Weep holes should be installed.

Starpoint Application

  • Stir Starpoint with the trowel prior to use.
  • Apply at a uniform thickness of 3-5mm (thicker than 5mm increases cost and drying time, also
  • increasing the risk of rain damage)
  • Ensuring there is 3-5mm of Starpoint to the underside of the bedding, ridge edge and underside of the ridge.
  • Sponge finishing is not recommended.

Existing Tile Roofs

  • Crumbly, cracked and unstable bedding and pointing should be replaced.
  • Where pointing over sound old bedding and pointing, the surface must be clean and free of dirt, moss, lichen and other contamination.
  • All existing collars removed and the re-pointed.

New Tile Roofs

  • Bedding cement should be finished plumb and free of holes and voids. Fresh bedding does not require full curing before application of Starpoint. However, it should be dry enough to resist trowel pressure
  • Bedding cement should be raked with edge of trowel to create a 3-5mm void to the underside of the ridge tile – the more contact area with pointing and the ridge tile, the better adhesion will be achieved
  • Weep holes in the pointing will be aligned with those installed in the bedding
